19c Oak Dockyard Campaign Pedestal Desk
Recently restored in our workshop - this beautiful 1890’s Oak dockyard campaign pedestal desk
This desk was originally made in Salisbury (our hometown!) in 1893 by Arthur Foley & Son cabinet makers. It has travelled the world on naval ships collecting it’s history and miraculously ended up returning home to us.
We have given this fabulous piece the treatment it deserves, finishing the solid oak with a golden glow & laying a premium gold tooled maroon leather top.
Desk has 6 pedestal drawers & a single top drawer that would’ve been originally used to store maps for officers travels & coordinates.
All brass handles are original along with the desk’s feet which are now secured to the pedestals. Desk top is secured with brass locks to help strengthen, you can simply turn and remove top from it’s pedestals to manoeuvre easily. The desk is designed this way so it was practical to board ships just like campaign chests.
Desk also has original makers plate & carvings located underneath the top & on pedestals.
A truly special piece of furniture that brings a unique combination of history & beauty to your home.
