Hand Carved Chinese Camphor Wood Chest

The latest addition to our shop is this petite 19c hand carved Chinese camphor wood chest
 
This chest is a thing of beauty, combining detailed hand carved Chinese camphor wood with traditional campaign style brassware.
 
Finished to highlight it’s stunning features, the darkened camphor has been giving a warm glow & brass has a fantastic rustic shine.
 
Brassware consists of corners & angle straps along with flush carrying handles on each side & a flush handle on front of chest for opening. The chest has an interior brass hinge to keep lid strengthened when open. There would have been a small shelf inside the chest but has been removed to maximise storage space.
 
The decorative carvings express positivity & charm - the Chinese Dragon, Phoenix & Carp representing good fortune & health.
 
A unique piece full of artistic appeal.
